Happy
400th Birthday King James Version of the Holy Bible!

The King James Version, celebrating its 400th anniversary, records Daniel
2:22 this way, He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

The New Revised Standard Version, (the version most used in the UMC), puts it this
way, “He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with him.

The Living Bible paraphrases it like this, He reveals profound mysteries beyond man’s understanding. He knows all hidden things, for he is light . . .

The question for many people today is this: “Which one’s right?” A better question might be, “Do they say the same thing?” The answer of course is, “Yes, they do say the same thing.”

The amazing thing is that they actually complement each other. Comparing different versions, while searching for the intended meaning of the text, (and not just a particular word or what we want it to mean), can give us a deeper, fuller, and richer
understanding of God’s Word – the Bible.

Which brings us to the next question which by comparison, dwarf’s the first one of which one is right. The bigger question is this: “Are we reading God’s Word in any
version?”

People all across the world are celebrating the 400TH anniversary of the King
James Version, with concerts, gatherings, and readings. Whether you prefer the
King James translation or one of the newer ones, there’s no better way to
celebrate God’s Word than by reading God’s Word.

Why not join the celebration by spending some time reading the Bible? It has been changing people’s lives for over 400 years. Choose a version and then, start letting
God’s Word change your life, today.
