Four Categories: Devotion, Sermon and Poetry Are you filled with a burning desire to express yourself and your love for God? Maybe, you are a frustrated, unpublished writer looking for a chance to prove yourself and gain an audience? If so, try your hand at The Sowing Seeds Ministry eighth annual writing contest. There are four ways to express your talents and possibly win a prize. First place submissions in each of four categories will receive $100, be published on the Sowing Seeds web page and on our email column which goes out to thousands of subscribers around the world. Winning entries along with selected others will also be submitted to other publishers and newspapers around the country. Many will receive runners-up certificates and could also be published in a Sowing Seeds publication. What is important is that everyone will be acknowledged with a letter of appreciation and comments from an experienced writer along with a certificate of appreciation. Here are the categories: 1. Devotion: 600 to 750 words in story form that ultimately will use and teach a passage of scripture. Sermon: A new category to encourage pastors and pastor
wanna-be's to express their creativity. No more than 2000 words creatively
written in an easy to understand form anyone could appreciate. Your ultimate
goal should be to teach a passage of scripture and apply it to modern life.
2000 Winner 3. Poetry: Virtually anything goes here with a reminder that your poem should help us deepen our faith with God. It's not. Give it a try. Again, all entries will be acknowledged and the winning entries will receive $100 and be published on our Sowing Seeds Web Page and Internet newsletter. There is also a good chance that a newspaper or magazine will publish your devotion entry as part of a Sowing Seeds column. Here is what you do: Ø Each
submission page should be typed with your name, address,
phone number and email address (if available) marked at the top. Ø
Your entry
must be postmarked no later than June 30th 2005. Ø
There is an entry fee for the first
submission of $25. This is
used to pay for prizes, judging and a free book for every first entry. Ø Multiple submissions are acceptable but each additional entry has a separate $18 entry fee. All
fees are used strictly to fund prizes and our web site ministry. Sowing Seeds is a non-profit
ministry. In this case the Writing Contest exists solely to
provide an avenue of publication for beginning writers. We encourage you to use
your talents and pray this contest will be of some help. 2005
Winners
will be announced in our weekly column near the end of July, 2005. Here is an important tip: The winning entries will tell a good story that anyone could enjoy and still teach a scriptural lesson. Sometimes the simplest story teaches the greatest lesson. What are you waiting for?
