Jeannie M. Ferrara describes herself as, “another single-Christian, 36 year old woman with three kids, bruised and battered from a pretty rough life [of my own doing].  I am not a Scholar, a Professor of Theology and I have no letters behind my name. I do not have a Degree in Literature or any power or influence over my church or community: I am a humble servant; And yes, God spoke to me!!!

“Too many children have lost their lives to this battle on the streets. This poem was requested for a friend that was shot and killed during a 3 a.m. robbery. " I have been very blessed to accept Elijah's story [about his friend's death], and to interpret it for others.”

Will he be waiting for me????

Such hatred, and cruelty; unaware of You, Lord.

We knew another sinner,

I tried to tell him for You Lord,

But he was a child, with "eyes" that could not "see",

with "ears' that could not "hear",

But You came and saved me,

did he ever know you Lord?

My heart is breaking, I feel almost guilty,

I came so close, my heart cries, "Why??"!!!

Why did the Bartender shoot?

Why another child Lord?

He was my friend, he was a gangsta....

Why did you choose me Lord?

He died too young, too full of rage.

But I know he heard me mention

your name Lord!!!

In that last split second, when he heard

the gun ring out,

Did he remember?

Did he think?

Was your  "voice" louder Lord?

Please tell me, because my

friend listened to me about you,

Did you grab his hand?

Will he be waiting for me Lord??
